To mark the start of 2020, here are some images illustrating the variety of approaches on view at our first session of the new year. Encouraging to see new ideas and experimentation going on.

This was our first workshop of 2019. York artist, Phil, gave us an entertaining and instructive demo and workshop on seascapes. Phil's approach was to produce an initial charcoal drawing, which was over-painted with acrylic, mixed either with flow improver or gel medium to provide texture, but allowing the charcoal to show through in places.
Norma was working straight from her imagination
Patsy's was one of the more complete paintings from the workshop

Owing to the upheaval associated with the move to our new venue, and the time taken to settle in, it's a long time since our last workshop. However, last Tuesday we invited the well known local artist, Alan Morley, to lead a session on abstract landscape. Alan opened with an interesting talk and demo before we settled down to creating our own interpretations of the idea. here are photos from the session.
