Winfield was willing to have a go at anything, but, most of all, became an accomplished water colourist. His atmospheric seascapes and lively, immediate figurative paintings are particularly memorable. Here are two to remind us of his talent:
aim4art is a voluntary community arts group, formed in 2009, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of painting and drawing in the Tees Valley. We aim to paint, aim to draw, aim to create art. We meet every Tuesday (10am-4pm) at The Barn, overlooking Hemlington Lake, Middlesbrough, TS8 9DA. We have no regular tutor, but support each other and organise a programme of visits and workshops. Visit our website at www.aim4art.org.uk

Winfield
It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of Winfield Stewart. Gently humorous, unflappable, practical and unfailingly supportive, Winfield has been with us from the beginning and will be sorely missed by all of us.

Website Update Not (again)
As I'm away for a while, I won't be able to keep the website up-to-date. However, we can still add posts to the blog.
Last week I visited the Coast Gallery at Cloughton just before you reach Scarborough. They had a really nice exhibition of John Egerton pots, some interesting felt pebbles by an artist whose name escapes me, plus paintings by a range of artists including P.Hicks. They don't appear to have a website but you can find them at www.Facebook.com/CoastGallery

Runswick Bay
Another lovely day thanks to Kate. The weather was not too bad and I did manage quite a few sketches. I will really need to focus when we have our two days in September.
Spirit of Place Exhibition at Preston Park should be in place the week beginning July 8th.
Thanks again Kate for your hospitality.
Runswick Bay Painting Day News
Another enjoyable day and the rain held off - what a nice place to paint, but how complex! Thank you, Kate, for your hospitality.

Runswick Bay Painting Day
On Tuesday July 2nd we are scheduled to have a painting day in Runswick Bay, courtesy of Kate. The plan is to meet at Kate's cottage between 10 am and 10.30am, before going off for a morning's painting. Please bring food to share for lunch. If you're not sure where to go, you'll certainly meet someone in the car park if you get there reasonably early. Failing that, it's not a big place - Head for the beach and wave!
Edinburgh Exhibitions
I've just come back from the Samuel Peploe Exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I bought the book if you want a look. If you want to see the exhibition it finishes on June 23rd, so you'll have to be quick.
However, the Royal Scottish Academy Summer Exhibition is also well worth a look, and, unlike its London counterpart, is free to enter. I thoroughly enjoyed this one as well - there was something for everybody. here's a link:
