aim4art is a voluntary community arts group, formed in 2009, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of painting and drawing in the Tees Valley. We aim to paint, aim to draw, aim to create art. We meet every Tuesday (10am-4pm) at The Barn, overlooking Hemlington Lake, Middlesbrough, TS8 9DA. We have no regular tutor, but support each other and organise a programme of visits and workshops. New Venue and AGM
Much has happened since the last post. Our 'Inspired by Saltholme' Exhibition had a second showing, this time at Stockton Library. We had a group visit to Preston Park Museum to see the Steve Dixon and Alison Welsh's Ghost Ship Sculpture, and the 'Lasting Impressions' printmakers' exhibition.
On November 1st we finally moved into our new room at The Barn. As expected it is smaller than before and there is still work going on to finish it fully. No doubt it will take some time to adjust to our new surroundings and make the most of them. However, we now have a light, freshly decorated and well equipped venue with a modern heating system.
Our AGM on the same day was very well attended. Julia Cutter, Lesley Guy, Rob Blenkarn and Lynne Herkmen were re-elected to the Committee respectively as Chair, Secretary, Treasurer/ IT Manager, and Exhibition Secretary. Many thanks to Val Harrison who stepped down from her role as Deputy Treasurer, but welcome to Dee Maloney, who was elected to the committee and becomes Social Secretary, having already organised a number of events for us.
