aim4art is a voluntary community arts group, formed in 2009, dedicated to pushing the boundaries of painting and drawing in the Tees Valley. We aim to paint, aim to draw, aim to create art. We meet every Tuesday (10am-4pm) at The Barn, overlooking Hemlington Lake, Middlesbrough, TS8 9DA. We have no regular tutor, but support each other and organise a programme of visits and workshops. New Member
We'd like to welcome our latest member, Gill Adams. Gill has been interested in joining us for some time and came to her first session today. You can't have too many Gills.
Glass Workshop
Here are some of the results from our first glass workshop with Jo Lumley. The second one took place today, so further results will follow. Sorry some of the pictures are less good than others.

Geoff Hewitt Workshop - Tues 20th Nov
Geoff delivered one of the most interesting workshops we've had, so much so that we're hoping to have him back in the New Year. After showing us examples of his original work, he demonstrated a number of techniques:
If you want to see more of Geoff's work visit his website at http://www.geoffhewitt.co.uk/
- Drawing a sheep without taking the graphite stick he was using off the paper
- An impromptu sketch of High Force transformed by over-painting with gesso before drawing back into the picture
- A larger portrait of Robbie Coltrane, starting off with a charcoal and chalk drawing, then over-painting with black, white and grey acrylic, before finally adding skin tones in colour

Lakeland Artists Exhibition
During the summer Julia and I both visited the Lakeland Artists Exhibition in Grasmere and came away very impressed. The Lakeland Artists now have a new exhibition at the Rheged Centre in Penrith, which is on until January 10th. Should make a good day out.
Our own 'Spirit of Place' exhibition is running at Stewart park until December 16th.

AGM
At our AGM today we gave ourselves the traditional and well deserved pat on the back. The current committee were re-elected unopposed and hope to continue the good work. Sadly, Eve was unable to be present and we all wish her well with her latest round of treatment.
